By Land and by Sound: A Modern Conversation on the Battle of Roanoke Island



MANTEO, NC— 155 years after the Battle of Roanoke Island, By Land and by Sound: a modern conversation on the battle of Roanoke Island will be held on Thursday, March 16, in the Indoor Theatre at Roanoke Island Festival Park at 7 p.m.Tickets are $5.00 and may be reserved in advance at (252) 475-1500 or purchased at the door the day of the event. All proceeds from ticket sales supports educational programming at RIFP.

Joining in the conversation: Andrew Duppstad North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources Historic Weapons Program Coordinator; and Michael Zatarga, author of The Battle of Roanoke Island: Burnside and the Fight for Roanoke Island. His book signing will follow the presentations in the Museum Store. Light refreshments will be provided. Jeff Bockert, East Region Supervisor, N.C. Division of Historic Sites, will moderate a guided discussion, following the presentations. Also, Battle of Roanoke Island related artifacts will be on display from the museum collection of Fort Raleigh National Historic Site.roanokeisland.com
