Tuesday evenings in
the spring and summer come alive on the downtown Elizabeth City
waterfront with Elizabeth City Downtown Inc.’s Summer Movies &
Music Series at Mariners’ Wharf Park. Starting in June you can
enjoy a classic movie at the park on Tuesday evenings beginning at
8:30 pm. Movies considered “oldies but goodies” are chosen from
the 1930’s through the 1960’s and shown on the big screen,
drive-in movie style. "Many think the classics are boring, but
they have really intricate plot lines and are pretty entertaining. A
classic movie can be a refreshing change," says Deborah
Malenfant of ECDI. The official film season is every Tuesday in June
and July. Because evening thunderstorms become the norm this time of
year, rain-outs are to be expected. Up to two rain dates are
scheduled. The remaining film schedule for this year is:
July 11 - Camille
July 18- The Quiet
Man
July 25 - Citizen
Kane
August 1 (rain date)
– Easy Living
August 8 (rain date)
–Lilies of the Field
The Elizabeth
City-Pasquotank Parks & Recreation Department wants to be sure
kids have the opportunity for some movie entertainment, as well. They
host kid-friendly movies on the third Friday night of the months of
June, July, and August, beginning at 8:30 p.m. Hot dogs are cooked up
by the Sheriff’s Dept, the Fire Dept hosts a temporary splash pad,
and movies/popcorn are available to buy. The remaining Kids Flix
movie lineup includes:
July 21- Little
Giants
Aug. 18 - Dolphin
Tale
The Music on the
Green at Mariners’ Wharf Park music series starts Tuesday, July
25th, continuing for eight consecutive Tuesday evenings,
from 6-8 pm. The Band Ryder, a funk, rock, reggae ensemble will open
the season. Bobby Plough performs August 1st. The
remaining schedule is still being coordinated. Visit
