Reverend Bill Masciangelo

Pastor of The New Moyock UMC
This Circuit Rider is a servant to his church and community. His weapons of choice are prayer and God's Holy Word. Pastor Bill serves with his wife Susan of 18 years, whom he met at a dance.  They currently  pastor together at The New Moyock UMC. Pastor Bill and Susan have been blessed with 4 children  who are now adults and 6 grandchildren. Pastor Bill was born in Lakewood N.J. in 1944 and is from Pine Beach N.J. His father served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of WWII. His schooling includes Admiral Farragut Academy a Naval Academy Preparatory school.  Upon graduation he attended St. Francis University for 4 years and graduated with a teaching degree and a history concentration. Upon graduation he was commissioned a 2nd Lt. in the United States Marine Corps as a servant/ leader with the Marine Corps retiring after 20 years at the rank of Lt. Col. in his service to this nation. Pastor Bill was a combat veteran of Vietnam where he first felt God tugging on his heart in a foxhole in Vietnam during Holy Week of March 1967. But like so many of us he put it aside and ignored it. During his time in the military he held many positions and did many jobs while serving our nation. Continuing his education while in active duty Pastor Bill earned a Masters degree in education. After his service to this nation Pastor Bill began a second career as a Hotel Executive for several national hotel chains.  Later becoming President of Blackwater. God's pursuit that started in the foxhole continued on. Like most people hearing the knock but not opening the door. In these times things may be going good but there is usually a void that the things of life can't fill and like most of us there is an awful feeling in our Spirit of things just not being as they should. Finally in 2005 after a gradual acceptance of God's calling. Pastor Bill took the step of faith and allowed Jesus to come into his heart and made Him his Lord and Savior. His life was changed and the new joy and a feeling of abundant living gave him a desire to seek God with his whole heart. At this point Pastor Bill and Susan Masciangelo began their ministry together. While assisting the Pastor and serving as a Lay Leader and Lay Speaker he started feeling that tug of God on his heart for full time ministry and again found himself unsure if it was God speaking to him. After many days of prayer with his wife Susan, and confirmed by others. Pastor Bill started on the road to full time ministry. Pastor Bill accepted a full-time position as Pastor of New Hope UMC in Hertford NC. Building the church on hospitality, worship, faith, missions, prayer, service and generosity. After three years of service to New Hope UMC. Pastor Bill became ill and had to resign his pastorate for medical reasons. The illness may have slowed him down but did not stop him from worshiping and serving God. Pastor continued by holding a Men's Bible Study in his home as well as singing in the choir and occasionally teaching Sunday school. During this time, as God often does he reveals Himself greater in our lives. When we truly trust Him as provider he becomes our provider and the same holds true for healing as Pastor Bill would find out. It is in those valleys of troubles that we can learn to know God in a new and mighty way. It was at a prayer meeting in a men's fellowship that meet in a barn in Maple NC, that God revealed Himself as healer in his life and healed him of his disease. With this Pastor Bill was given a fresh wind and a fresh fire for the ministry leading him to his current position at The New Moyock UMC as full time Pastor where he serves with his wife Susan. Pastor Bill hopes to stay in ministry as long as The Lord allows him and hopes to plant seeds in many hearts. His greatest desire is the see his church grow into a large community of on fire believers that will allow themselves to be used to draw many men and women to Christ in not only Moyock but also Currituck County. Also to see everyone keep their focus on spiritual disciplines. Pastor Bill has enjoyed every career that he has had and gave each his all as a servant and leader. The only regret he has is running from God for so many years. Thank God He does not give up on us easily. But in all the paths he travelled, God taught him what he needed to know to become the Servant of God he is now. We don't always understand but the steps of good man are directed by God. Pastors Bill's favorite scripture verse is 2Chronicles 7:14 a great verse for this nation today. I hope you will look it up and read it. Pastor Bill and Susan still live in Poplar Branch at The Good News Farm  where he enjoys horseback riding. He also enjoys working out at the Y, swimming and kayaking with his wife by his side. Some of his favorite foods include Italian and Asian  His greatest disappointment is not seeing others grab the same passion for serving and worshiping Jesus or allowing themselves to accept His drawing in their lives to see seeds planted grow. Pastor Bill as he still Pastors at The New Moyock UMC would be glad to see you and have you come and check out what God is doing in His Church. Come and worship in the ROUND and experience the FRESH FIRE and FRESH WIND.
